Isonokami Jingu Shrine

As one of the oldest shrines in all of Japan, it's hard not to feel as if you're lost in another world when you visit here.
This site originally served to house an "ujigami" guardian deity for the Mononobe clan, a powerful family during the Asuka period, and has since been a site to pray for health and longevity, disaster prevention, and greater fulfillment.
There are gorgeous sacred long-tailed chickens that freely roam the premises.
This location also offers a wealth of national treasures and important cultural properties on site, including a noted front hall section, an annex constructed from Uchiyama Eikyu-ji Temple, a "Seven-Branched Sword" artifact, and more.
Evergreens are abundantly scattered all along the premises, and the area heading towards Yamanobe Road has a peaceful quality to it with a rejuvenating-like effect for both the body and mind.
This refreshing sacred atmosphere pervades all throughout the site.
