Daijuji Temple
The family temple of the Matsudaira/Tokugawa clan.
The temple hosts the spirit tablets of successive generations of shoguns, and a wooden statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu at 73 years old is enshrined within.
It's said that once, after his deafeat at the Battle of Okehazama, Ieyasu fled home to the temple and prepared to take his own life.
However, the head priest there instructed him to go forth and strive for a world at peace, staying Ieyasu's hand.
