Sugo jinja Shrine

Built in 110 AD, this is said to be the oldest shrine in Japan.
The shrine has a connection to the Matsudaira/Tokugawa clan, as it's believed that Lord Ieyasu came here at the age of 25 to pray for good fortune and the warding off of evil spirits.
These days, the shrine holds the grand Sugo Festival on the first Saturday of every August, where fireworks are launched in offering as part of the Hokobune ritual.
