Awashima Jinja Shrine
Awashima Jinja Shrine is famous for the vivid red main shrine and the dolls arranged in the shrine.
An event called “Hinanagashi” is held on March 3 every year where people from across Japan float dolls out to sea with their wishes.
The deity of the shrine, Sukunahikona-no-mikoto, is the god of medicine, and is believed to be beneficial to women for safe delivery, childbirth, and recovery from illness.
