Historical Temple Walk
Onomichi, which has prospered as a port town since ancient times, is lined with many famous temples in the city center alone.
The Historical Temple Walk connects 25 famous temples on the stone pavement, including Jodoji Temple, which is a treasure trove of cultural assets and is also called a temple of national treasures; Saikokuji Temple, with its impressive Niomon Gate, hung with a large straw rope; the iconic Senkoji Temple; and Jikoji Temple, where visitors can experience nigiri-butsu or the art of making clay Buddhas.
