Kai Genji Historic Site

Minamoto no Yoshikiyo is said to have established the foundation of Kai-Genji (Minamoto clan).
He was the third son of Shinra-Saburo Yoshimitsu and was in Kai from 1110 to 1113.
Minamoto no Yoshikiyo built residences here as the Geshi of the Ichikawa manor and the Aoshima manor.
He was the first person to settle in Kai, becoming Kai’s Mokudai around the age of 49.
The copper monument “Kai-Genji historic site monument” contains calligraphy by Sanetomi Sanjo. It was built in 1885 by the county mayor Takashi Yoda and others.
