Mt. Sasayama

Mt. Sasayama is a 1,065m high mountain that rises on the western border of Kochi and Ehime Prefectures and is designated as the Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park.
It has been an object of mountain worship since ancient times, and includes the Sasayama Shrine on the summit.
The view from the summit is spectacular, and on a clear day you can see the Uwakai Sea, Okinoshima Island and the distant mountains of Kyushu.
In addition to its magnificent views, the mountain is also famous for the large colonies of azaleas and rhododendrons that cover the area from late April to early May.
Many climbers visit Sasayama during this season.
