Saururus chinensis (Asian lizard's tail) Colony

The Kajishima area in the upper reaches of the Yoshikawa River is a rare place in Japan where Saururus chinensis grows wild, and is the largest cluster in Shizuoka prefecture.
The surrounding area is a satoyama where precious nature remains, and there are walking trails for visitors.
Saururus chinensis is a member of the Saururaceae, or the lizard's-tail family, and is characterized by the fact that half of its leaves turn white as it flowers.
