Tamamo Park, Historic Site of Takamatsu Castle

A park on the site of Takamatsu Castle, a nationally designated historic site and one of Japan's three major castles built on a lake.
The reason for its name is that the nickname of Takamatsu Castle is Tamamo Castle.
Just as in the past, seawater is drawn directly into the moat, and one can feed the sea bream and ride the castle boat. In addition, there are the Ushidora Yagura Turret, the Tsukimi Yagura turret, the Mizude gate, a roofed passage, and the Hiunkaku Pavillion, which are designated as national important cultural properties, as well as the Hiunkaku Garden, a nationally designated scenic spot.

In June 2022, the Sakura Gomon gate was restored by collecting evidence for restoration, conducting surveys and research, and combining traditional techniques with modern construction methods for the purpose of utilizing a cultural asset.
Here in Tamamo Park, visitors can see the phantom national treasure, which was destroyed by fire during the Takamatsu Air Raid, on public display for the first time in 77 years.
