Yashima Island, Setonaikai National Park, Natural Monument and Historic Site

A roof-shaped lava plateau, one of the landmarks of Takamatsu City.
From Yashima Island, one can overlook the islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea and the city of Takamatsu.
It was the first designated national park in Japan.
There are various spots, such as the old battlefield where the Genpei War was fought; "Yashimaji", which is the 84th temple in the Shikoku Pilgrimage; and "New Yashima Aquarium", a rare mountaintop aquarium.
In addition, Yashima has been selected as one of the "100 Best Sunsets in Japan", "100 Best Night Views", "Night View Heritage of Japan", and "100 Most Famous Moons of Japan".
