Chokai Blue Line
A mountain road that straddles Yamagata and Akita.
34.9km in length, it is 18.1km long on the Yamagata side.
You can view the Sea of Japan and Asuka in the front, the Oga Peninsula and Nikaho in the north, Awashima Island and the Shonai Plain in the south from the observatory at around 1,000m altitude.
The Mizubashou (Lysichiton camtschatcensis) flower blooms beautifully from mid-April to early May at around 300m altitude.
