Yagi Castle Ruins

Yagi Castle was the residence of the Naito clan, guardians of Tamba province.
Its borders encompassed both the central part of modern Kyoto Prefecture and the east-central part of the Hyogo Prefecture.
It is one of the three major castles in Tamba, together with the Hatano clan's Yagami Castle and the Akai clan's Kuroi Castle.
Although one of the most important strongholds in Tamba it fell during Mitsuhide Akechi's attack on Tamba in the 16th century.

A trail leads up to the top of the castle, from whence you can admire its stone walls and moat. You can also see the Kameoka basin, Mt. Atago and if conditions are right, a sea of clouds (Unkai).
