National Historic Site Yoshimi Hyakuana

Yoshimi Hyakuana an archaeological site consisting (to date) of 219 corridor-type (yokoana) tombs from the late Kofun period (about 1400 years ago), was designated as a national historic site in 1923 and is one of the most famous in Japan.
In some of the pits, there are wild, yellowish-green, luminous mosses (goblin gold).
These mosses are abundant in mountainous areas of the Kanto Plain in the Kanto region of central Japan. Given their value the area was designated as a national natural monument in 1928.
