Nishiyama Plateau Leisure Facilities

The area that stretches out at the southern foot of Mt. Gagyu was once the castle town of Matsuyama. Ishibiyacho is an area in the former castle town that still retains a 250 meter stretch of samurai residences complete with their prestigious gates. It has been designated as an Okayama Prefecture Furusato Mura, or "Old-Village."

White-walled nagayamon long gates and earthen walls can be found all along both sides of the narrow streets, creating a strong impression of life during samurai times.

The former residences of the Orii and Haibara samurai families are open to the public.
They offer detailed reproductions of life in samurai homes. Related weaponry and other artefacts are on display at the museum.
