Abuto Kannon (Bandai-ji Temple Kannon-do Hall)

The Abuto Kannon is a beautiful vermilion lacquered Kannondo (Goddess of Mercy) built into a rocky cliff at the tip of Cape Abusagi overlooking the Seto Inland Sea on the southern end of Numakuma Peninsula.
A nationally important cultural property it is widely known as a place for prayer for safe childbirth.
It was the subject of an “ukiyoe” by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797 -1858) the last great master of traditional woodblock printing.

Transportation: From the south exit of the JR Fukuyama Station, take the Shinkawa Line(Tomotetsu Bus) and get off the Abuto Kannon Iriguchi.(15 minutes walk).

Or from the south exit of the Matsunaga Station, take the Numaminami Line and get off at Abuto Kannon Iriguchi (15 minutes walk).

Charge: Junior high school students and above 100 yen
Elementary school student 50 yen
