Higo-Hosokawa Garden

Originally a residence of the Hosokawa family, which headed the Kumamoto domain, during the late Edo period, this scenic walking-style pond garden offers a three-dimensional outlook using the surrounding plateau's rises and falls in elevation.
Established as "Shoseikaku" in the Taisho era to be used as a school for the Hosokawa family, it was later renovated in 2016 to showcase the site's history.
Both the buildings and gardens are free of charge to visit.
