Yushima Tenmangu Shrine

This shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning and scholarship, and the location is also referred to as "Yushima Tenjin Shrine".
This location is also well-known for its Japanese plum blossoms.
The site features a copper torii gate (a special cultural property designated by the city of Tokyo) and the "Kien Hyojin Seki" stone (a special cultural property designated by Bunkyo) that helps to find lost children.
The shrine was completely overhauled using Japanese cypress in 1995.
There are three hills that lead up to the shrine: "Men's Hill", "Women's Hill", and "Married Couple's Hill".
