Hattachi Beach (Hattachi Yakushi)

In 806, the first year of the Daido era, Great Teacher Tokuitsu recited a protection of the sea, and it is said that Bhaisajyaguru arose from the sea (Bhaisajyaguru standing on a wave = Hattachi Yakushi) and was enshrined there.
The temple grounds are planted with many hydrangeas, and it is colloquially known as Hydrangea Temple.
Just across the road, Benten-jima rising from the sea and the crimson bridge are symbols of Hattachi Beach. The beach is an uncommon gravel beach, and it is said that taking a pebble from the beach will cause an ailment of the eyes.
