Former Nakashichi-Momen Main Shop

The Nakashichi Momen Joint-Stock Company was established in 1896 with the introduction of the first 24 power looms in Okada, and the building was constructed in 1912 as the Nakashichi-Momen Main Shop.
At the end of the Taisho era, the company operated more than 30 factories in Okada, and the trade name Yamashichi was cast into the ridge-end tiles on the roof, a reminder of the vigor of the time.
The cotton business was closed down in 1995, but the building was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2017.
