Asakura Hashigojishi

When a lion that had been destroying crops and causing trouble for the people of Asakura was killed with a ladder, the harvest in the following year was so good that the villagers thought it was a blessing from the lion and held a festival to make offerings to the lion and pray for a good harvest. Such is believed to have been the origin of the festival.
The lion performance by a group of two on a 31-step ladder and a 9-meter-high tower will show thrilling and exhilarating moves.
It is designated as a prefectural intangible folk cultural asset.
