Chita City Natural Monument Souriume

The Souriume is a variety of plum tree unique to Souri, and is said to have been grown by Kamezo Wanibe, a resident of Souri, Chita City, in the early Meiji era, by grafting peach and plum trees together.
Its light pink flowers bloom in early spring, and its fruits are ideal for making pickled plums and ume liqueur.
In 2019, it was designated as a natural monument and a cultural asset of Chita City.
