Former Residence of Natsume Soseki

Natsume Soseki, a great writer active during the Meiji and Taisho periods, lived at this residence for three years after returning from England in 1903.
It was here that he wrote his first novel, "I Am a Cat," which featured the house as its setting.
He also wrote many more of his great works here such as "The Tower of London," "Botchan," and "Kusamakura".
The site is now occupied by the Nippon Medical School Alumni Association.
