Ebisu Jinja Shrine

Kazutoyo Yamauchi was frustrated by the resistance of remnants of the Chosokabe clan, groups of agricultural soldiers (Ichiryo Gusoku).
In 1601, taking advantage of the sumo wrestling at the Ebisu Shrine festival, he sent out notices gathering the sumo enthusiasts amongst the agricultural soldiers and subsequently hunting them down.
Seventy-three of the Chosokabe clan's followers were crucified in the Tanesaki harbour making an example of them and stopping resistance.
