Saihoji Temple

Saihoji Temple is said to have been a branch temple of the Jiseiji Temple on Yuge Island, and in the early Meiji period (1868-1912), the temple was rented and used as a "Kensei Elementary School".
Compared to other Niou statues, the Niou statue at Saihoji Temple has a rounded body and looks somewhat gentler, so the chief priest, concerned about its appearance, drew thick eyebrows on the statue to make it look a little stronger.
