Toshima City Tokiwaso Manga Museum

Once in Shiinamachi, Toshima-ku (now Minami-nagasaki), the Tokiwaso Museum was an apartment that was the legendary setting of the adolescence of manga greats like Tezuka Osamu.
The apartment block was dismantled in December, 1982, but due to public support and urging, was reopened as a manga museum.
The exterior and interior of the museum has been dutifully reconstructed to match the original location of friendly rivalry between the manga artists, and visitors can see how the artists experienced the space in the 40s and 50s.
Throughout the year the museum is visited by lovers of manga and anime, and we hope to use everyone’s support to bring manga and anime culture into the new generation by using the space for exhibitions and other events.
