Hontokuji Temple

This Rinzai sect temple is said to have be built by Nongoku Bonkei, the son of Akechi Mitsuhide, who was known for the Honno-ji Incident.
It was originally called the Kaiunji Temple and located in Toba Village (now Kaizuka City), but was moved in 1662 (Kanbun Year 2) by order of Yukitaka Okabe, the second lord of the Okabe family of Kishiwada, and changed to be called Hontokuji.
Ihai and the Portrait of Mutsuhide Akechi are both stored here.
