Chikugo River Lift Bridge

This is the oldest existing vertical-lift movable bridge in Japan.
The movable section, 507 meters long and sandwiched between 30-meter-high steel towers, rises to a height of 23 meters, under which large vessels pass. Walk across the bridge for a panoramic view of the mouth of the Chikugo River.
