Five lakes, each with a different blue color

"Mikata Five Lakes" is the collective name for five lakes that straddle the towns of Mihama and Wakasa in Fukui Prefecture.
The five lakes are Lake Mikata, Lake Suigetsu, Lake Suga, Lake Kugushi, and Lake Hiruga.
Each of the five lakes has different water quality and depths, and thus are called "five-color lakes" because they each appear to be a different shade of blue.

The differences can be clearly seen from the summit park of the Rainbow Line, an 11.2-km-long prefectural road, where visitors can enjoy the dynamic scenery of the five lakes and Wakasa Bay.
