Miura Residence (Shiinoki Goten)

Miura Residence (Shiinoki Goten)

The residence of the Miura family, who became the lords of Katsuyama.
In 1869 (Meiji 2), due to the return of the feudal domains to the emperor, the 107-year history came to an end, and now it is affectionately known as "Shiinoki Goten" because a huge oak tree, said to be over 100 years old, stands in front of the main gate of the mansion.
It is also the place where Atsuko Sano (the sister of Chieko Sasaki, who married Yoshitsugu Miura, the 12th head of the family) stayed during the war, and she became the model for the NHK serial TV drama "Beppin-san".
