Azemachi Syuku
In the Edo era (1603-1868), lords from the Karatsu clan and the Fukuoka clan used inns along the Karatsu Road in this post-town when they went to Edo as ordered during the Shogun’s bi-annual command to gather in Edo (former name of Tokyo).
There are houses that are much more than 100 years old, and the landscape reminds us of those old days.
