Oarai is a treasure trove of marlin
The area off the coast of Oarai where the Kuroshio and Oyashio currents meet is known as a good fishing ground for marlin, and the Japan International Billfish Tournament is held here every August.
The Marlin Museum uses various exhibits and simulators to spread the word about its charms.
