Takashima Castle, also known as "Floating Castle"

Built about 400 years ago, Takashima Castle was a mizuki (castle built on water) facing Lake Suwa, and was once called "Ukishiro."
The castle was abandoned, but the castle tower was rebuilt in the nineteen seventy of the year, and now there is a museum inside where you can learn about the history of Takashima Castle, which is also known as the "Floating Castle."

From the observation deck inside the castle tower, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Suwa.

Cherry trees in Takashima Castle
The nearby Takashima Park is famous for its cherry trees and wisteria flowers, and in late May the Takashima Castle Festival is held to commemorate the restoration of the castle tower of Takashima Castle.
