A huge stone archway greets you

Kayabe Jinja Shrine is a historic shrine with one of the largest stone archways in the country.
In mid-April, a row of cherry trees, which extend 1km, is beautiful, making it a famous spot for cherry blossoms in Hiruzen.
Worthy of special mention is the huge, 13m tall archway that is topped by a curved double lintel. The archway is a designated cultural asset of Maniwa.
Shrine parishioners drew up the plans for this archway in 1863 (the 3rd year of the Bunkyu era), quarried granite from Mount Iwakura, and took three years to complete it.
