Iron History Museum

It would be no exaggeration to say that the history of iron in Japan is also the history Kamaishi.
If you want to learn about iron, Kamaishi's Iron & Steel History Muesum is the place to go.
A museum about iron might initially sound as tough as the metal itself, but it's actually more of a mini theme park that both kids and adults can enjoy.
Starting with the great exploits of Oshima Takato, who built a Western-style blast furnace in Kamaishi's Hashinocho area, the museum documents the achievements of the people that greatly influenced Kamaishi's, and Japan's, iron industries.
The museum also contains extensive records on iron in Japan.
At the metal casting experience, for a fee you can create keyrings in the shapes of animals and more.
Why not challenge your friends & family to try and create their own totally unique, hand-made items?
From the museum's viewing lounge and viewing terrace you can take in the scenery of Kamaishi.
In the parking lot you can see on display the prized SL C20 locomotive, which used to run between Kamaishi and Ohashi starting in 1933.
Railway enthusiasts too are sure to enjoy a visit here.
