Ozaki Peninsula

This peninsula in the south of Kamaishi is rich with nature.
The Sanriku coast's unique and complex ria inlet is a big attraction here, and the amazing ocean view from the peninsula is simply breathtaking.
It's a perfect place to take in the beauty of nature in Kamaishi.
There's a natural promenade that stretches from the Ozaki Shirahama fishing harbour all the way to the unmanned Ozaki Lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula.
The area is also a part of the Michinoku Coastal Trail.
Make sure not to miss the Ozaki Shrine as you travel along the promenade.
A great number of fir trees grow on this peninsula.
Interestingly, both the subtropical fir tree and the temperate beech tree are both able to grow here.
The combination of vegetation here is quite rare. Wild bears also inhabit the Ozaki Peninsula; it's one of Kamaishi's most secluded natural areas, and there's no doubt that it's prized as such too.
