A cape with a spectacular view of Mount Rishiri and Rebun Island

Cape Noshappu is located at the westernmost tip of Wakkanai City and is a beautiful cape jutting out into the Soya Strait.
The name of this cape comes from the Ainu word "noshappu," which means "place where the cape juts out like a chin" or "place where the waves break."
One of the greatest attractions of Cape Noshappu is its spectacular view.
The perfect location from which to view the Sea of Japan and Rishirifuji is the Esandomari Port Park, where the sky and sea turn orange at sunset, creating an enchanting scene.
A clock tower with a dolphin motif has been installed in the park and has become a landmark for visitors.
Standing on the cape, Wakkanai Lighthouse, with its bright two-tone red and white coloring, is the tallest lighthouse in Hokkaido at 42.7 meters, and the second tallest in Japan after the Hinomisaki Lighthouse in Shimane Prefecture.
On the beaches around Cape Noshappu, you can watch Rishiri kelp being picked on early mornings in July and August, which is a summer tradition.
