Dugouts, earthwork, and stonewalls, preserved into modern times

This is the site of Karasuyama Castle, built by Nasu no Yoichi of the famous Nasushi clan over 600 years ago in 1418 (Oei 25). The castle is built on top of a hill overlooking the town, and was known for being impregnable due to its architecture making use of the surrounding terrain.
You can see various defensive facilities on the castle premises such as the moat, earthwork, and stonewalls, each well preserved and considered an historic landmark by the government.
The site is on a mountain trail, so please wear clothes appropriate for walking on your visit.
