Kurikara Prefectural Park

Kurikara Prefectural Park was the site of the battle of Kurikara during the Genpei War, about eight hundred years ago.
An impressive sculpture of a bull stands near the top of the mountain, conveying the intensity of the battle, in which the Genji general Kiso Yoshinaka defeated his adversaries by “fire bull” (stampede of bulls with torches attached to their horns) strategy.
Double-flowered cherry blossoms bloom on six thousand trees in spring here, and the red and gold foliage is magnificent in autumn.
This park is recommended for hiking as well.
