Statue of Togo Heihachiro

Heihachiro Togo, born in Kagoshima, received naval education in England and began his career as a naval officer.
In 1903, he fought in the Russo-Japanese War aboard warship "Mikasa" as Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
Though known as an illustrious admiral, Heihachiro Togo was a quiet man of a small stature.
