Kongobuji is the largest and most prestigious temple in Koyasan and main temple of the Shingon sect.
Visitors can experience the culture of Koyasan and its monks’ lifestyle.
The temple includes Fusuma paintings by the Kano School official painters of the Edo Shogunate, “Banryu niwa” which is the largest stone garden in Japan, Koyasan's unique earthen chamber heating facility”Tsuchimuro”, and the “Niisekama kettle”, which can cook rice for 2,000 people at once.
