The Jisonin temple is located in Kudoyama at the foot of Koyasan.
It is said that when Kobo Daishi’s mother came to visit him, she stayed at Jisonin because at that time women were forbidden in Koyasan.
Even today many women visit the temple to pray for childbirth and safety.
The temple grounds include the starting point of the Machiishi road, a pilgrimage route to Koyasan (Mt. Koya).
