In the mountainous area behind Katsurahama is one of Kochi's most famous scenic spots, the site of the Urado Castle, the last castle of the ruling Chosokabe clan.

After defeating the Chosokabe clan, Kazutoyo Yamauchi (the first lord of the Tosa clan) tore down the stone walls of the Urado Castle and carried them away to build the Kochi Castle.

The main part of the Urado castle was where the national inn, Katsurahama-so, and the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum stand today.
