Komatsubuchi

Long ago, legend has it that Hachiro Oyama of the Shinjo clan slayed a giant snake here at this scenic spot along the Doyama River. The view is especially spectacular during the new bloom in spring and the autumn foliage during fall.
The area is said to have be made up of a lava dome formed by the eruption of the Hijiori Caldera.
The stone materials for the Hijiori Dam and Akibayama Monument were quarried from this area as well.
