Japanese Smelt Fishing
Anenuma Swamp, located near Lake Ogawara, is a treasure trove of natural smelt.They offer smelt fishing from mid January to late February.
They have equipment for rent, so you try it at any time.
We recommend you fry your smelts or make them into tempura at the Osekka restaurant in the nearby Shimin no Mori Rest House.
