Myojosan Akechi-dera Temple

Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage – Temple No.9

Myojosan Akechi-dera is said to have been founded in 1191 by the priest Akechi Zenji.
The temple is especially famous for its Kannon Bosatsu, revered as a protector of safe childbirth and childrearing.

Each year on January 16, the temple’s festival day, many women from the surrounding area visit to pray to this Kannon for safe delivery and the healthy growth of their children, filling the grounds with a lively and devout atmosphere.

Myojosan Akechi-dera is Temple No.9 on the Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage, a roughly 100-km route linking 34 temples along a nature-rich pilgrimage trail.
