Showa-no-Mori Center
The Showa-no-Mori Center is an exhibition facility attached to the Amagigoe Roadside Station.
Inside the Showa-no-Mori Center are a local nature information center, the Izu Literature Museum, and the Izu Peninsula Geopark Amagi Visitor Center.
In the courtyard stands an old, Japanese-style house that has been relocated there. It is the former residence of the writer Yasushi Inoue, who spent his childhood in Amagi-Yugashima. Visitors can enter it and look around.
During the autumn-leaf season, bright colors on the leaves of maple trees in the garden charm visitors.
Surrounded by Mt. Amagi and other mountains, Showa-no-Mori Center is also one of Japan’s busiest hubs for hikers.
