“Tensodo” is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in Shizuoka prefecture.
Tensodo is a cave with a total length of 147m. It is designated as a national natural monument.
The ceiling at the center of the cave has a big round hole, giving it a look like a “roof skylight” as its name suggests.
Sunlight shines through the skylight into the dark cave bathing the surface of the sea in a shining emerald hue.
This splendid sight is comparable with the famous “Blue Grotto” in southern Italy.
As the colors of the sea’s surface vary depending on the season, time and weather, it is recommended to visit there at several different times.
