Imperial Prince Hachijonomiya Toshitada, who built the Katsura Imperial Villa, developed the inner sanctuary of the shrine, including Hachijogaike.
Visitors can enjoy landscapes with Nishiyama in the background, including plum, cherry blossoms, 170-year-old Kirishima azalea, and the autumn leaves garden, Kinkeien.
