A place where Mitsuhide was defeated by Hideyoshi and died
The daughter of Akechi Mitsuhide, Tama (Hosokawa Gracia), spent her newlywed days here, and this was also the place where Misuhide, who lost the battle of Yamazaki, spent the “last night of his life.” This Shoryuji Castle ruin was redeveloped into a park.
When Mitsuhide was fleeing to Otsu, he fled through the northern gate.
The stone wall of the northern gate has been reconstructed.
The park features cherry blossoms, an autumn leaves garden, and a free exhibition room showcasing videos and panels of associated historical figures.
