A Family-Friendly Insect Museum with a Tropical Butterfly House

The Ishikawa Fureai Insect Museum is the only museum in the Hokuriku region devoted entirely to insects.
Here, visitors can both learn about insect ecology and diversity and enjoy hands-on experiences with live insects, making it a favorite destination for families and nature lovers.

Inside, the museum features exhibits of rare insect specimens from around the world as well as live displays.
The highlight is the Butterfly House, where around 1,000 butterflies of many species flutter freely in a tropical greenhouse, allowing visitors to observe them up close year-round.

The museum also hosts seasonal special exhibitions, workshops, and interactive programs, providing excellent opportunities for children’s independent study and nature learning.
Even those who may feel uneasy around insects can enjoy the museum thanks to clear explanations and thoughtfully designed displays.

The adjoining museum shop sells insect-themed goods, illustrated books, and souvenirs—perfect for a memento of your visit.
As an all-weather indoor facility, it welcomes visitors throughout the year.
